Cut & Fold & Glue & Stick & Play & Paint & Colour & Make & Do & Thread & Create & . . . Repeat!

Magical mystery boxes of wonder and delight for your small/big/even bigger person to enjoy.

Nurture your child’s natural and completely inbuilt creativity with the joy of simply playing with crafty bits and pieces.

You will be utterly astounded at what they can imagine, make and create.

Children are naturally genius artists and native crafters - they actually do teach us so much. All too often their approach is playful and inquisitive and not exhaustively thought out - that comes later!

The wonder. The delight. The simple things;

Like gluing and sticking and painting and making a little world all of their very own.

The journey and the process of responding to materials that prompt creative thinking;

problem solving, experimentation and skill-growing.

Hi Kate

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that my daughter loves her craft box. The little details that you had put into the packaging were amazing and it made her feel like the box had been packed just for her. I think she had made this little guy before you had even gotten back to your car!

I have to share these AMAZING craft boxes!

Best thing I’ve given Harriet ever, I think. So many bits and pieces, love and hours of creativity packed into these. Go to @luckyduckcraftbox and order one for your kids or someone else’s today.

Ooohhh, hello, do tell me more, please?

Strange times call for a whole new enterprising approach! This fledgling business was created because I found, early on in Covid-19, small people in my life and the lives of my friends needed fresh nurturing. Creative art and craft therapy is always my personal go-to, ever since I was a small person!

So it was a natural transition to make care packages to be porch-dropped. Well! What a cheering and fortifying success they were, and continue to be. I have now posted them to all over Australia! Happy to post worldwide - just hasn’t happened yet! Postage costs are pretty off-putting in that arena.

My ethos is simple; give age appropriate craft materials and let them at it! They will astound you with their natural curiosity and creativity. Oh the things they will imagine and the places they’ll go!

(Thank you Dr. Seuss!)

A super-profound moment I witnessed once, was the wonderful author and illustrator, Alison Lester speaking with a huge group of primary school children.

She had been talking about her later life entry into her profession and she paused to ask the group this: "Who here thinks of themselves as an amazing artist? Who is a really good drawer?"

Immediately the hands of all the grade preps, all the grade ones, some of the grade twos and barely any of the older grades, shot up in the air, with no hesitation. Hmm... how very interesting.

Ms. Lester then went onto say something along the lines of, "This is exactly what happens, boys and girls. When we're young we fiercely believe in ourselves. We have excellent self-esteem. No questioning of our abilities. Then we grow up a little bit and we suddenly don't believe in our own abilities as much. We compare ourselves to others. We're tougher on ourselves, we don't want our friends to think we're full of ourselves and all hoity-toity and boastful. Try and remember what it is to be younger, as you grow up. Play with your art work. Enjoy it. Be proud of what you have made and if you're not happy with it, you can't deny you had a few good moments along the way making it." Well, that was the take-away for me, I may have very well misquoted and elaborated upon Alison's speech, but I have used the story to illustrate that when children are young their enthusiasm for creativity is at an all-time high. If we nurture and foster these attributes then our offspring and young ones in our lives will be in a far better position to prosper in all other areas of life. Artists are very often scientists. Brilliant mathematicians often get that way because of their creative approaches! Doctors collect art - or even make it!

Goodness me, this has become a very long essay/introduction, indeed. Apologies for the waffle, but extra syrup for you if you've made it this far!

The magic is in the process, the journey, and if you end up with a crafted treasure at the end, well that’s a lovely bonus, isn't it? All of my boxes are lovingly curated, carefully packed and sent with lots of love and well wishes. A personalised card is included; with your words or mine and I always tie a signature handmade giant pom-pom on each box. (Made by me and numerous helpful helpers! Helps keep my busy hands occupied during Netflix and Stan binges! "Helloooo, I’m WORKING here!")

I deliver locally to Sale and surrounds, of Gippsland via contactless porch-drop or via Australia Post to all other places in Australia and the world. Turnaround is pretty swift as I know you want it yesterday!

(The feedback has been thrilling - I am so very chuffed!)

Who is this Crafty Campaigner?

Kate Edwina Hook Nancarrow

Artist, Designer, Crafter & Creator, oh and Mother, too! Mother of a teen AND a toddler. Really deep in the full spectrum of parenting life. It’s an interesting social experiment... I jest! I am fortunate to get to relive parenting life allll over again. But this time around I’m not doing all the primary school parental volunteering I did the first time on the field. Surely I still have Karma Kredit? That’s a thing, right? Totally making it a thing, if it isn't already.

Hello, I'm Kate, it's been approximately 15,688 days I am very much addicted to making and creating and doing, and I am also massively passionate about encouraging others to make, create and do, too!
